He said collaboration was the only way to make today’s graduates relevant in the modern day economy and to serve as a benefit to their clients.

Dr Ampomah gave the advice during the 19th Congregation of the Methodist University College Ghana (MUCG).

The Congregation was on the theme:” Building strong private Universities in Ghana: Key to sustainable development.”

A total of 680 students were presented for graduation at various levels from three Faculties made up of 246 Masters, 361 Undergraduates, 42 Diplomas and 30 Certificates.

He said the private Universities needed to step up their efforts at forging collaboration and updating their methods of delivery of services to clients and students to be abreast with current trends and leverage performance.

“We must move forward from the idea of optimum results to the aim of maximum output in our service delivery,” he added.

The CEO said the Universities focus must be on maximum satisfaction of their clientele in this case, the student for MUCG and when this was done “we can provide a better future for them and so contribute to the betterment of our society.”

He said to build strong private Universities in the country, it was imperative for the private tertiary institutions to revisit the design of their programmes and courses to enable their graduates fit into the job-market.

He said the progress of any country and its economy was dependent on the proper management of contemporary issues and the success of such issues is largely dependent on Universities producing well-trained, educated, and market ready graduates who have practical skills and the ability to apply knowledge and have an entrepreneurial mindset.

Most Reverend Dr Paul Boafo, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, said the Church was ready to support the University Management in ensuring that the quality of teaching and research was top-notch.

“We as a Church are committed to ensuring that we continue to support MUCG to sustain growth in student numbers as well as infrastructural development,” he added.

He said the Church would continue to accord the University College Management the support they needed to execute the MUCG’s mandate and also put them to the task to ensure that the heavy investments the Church continued to make were properly utilized for the benefit of students as well staff and society at large.

Professor D.K Ekem, the Vice-President of MUCG, said the University received accreditation to commence a Master of Arts Programme in Entrepreneurship and a BSc. Nursing degree Programme to commence in January 2022.

He said the Universities had also received accreditation to mount a number of Programmes.

These are M.A Educational Assessment and Evaluation, M.A Educational Administration and Supervision, M.A Educational Leadership and School Improvement, M.Phil. Educational Assessment and Evaluation, M.Phil. Educational Administration and M.Phil. Educational Leadership and School Improvement.

The rest are PhD in Education, PhD in Educational Assessment and Evaluation, M.A Entrepreneurship and Corporate Strategy and M.Phil. Entrepreneurship and Corporate Strategy.

Prof Ekem, who spoke on behalf of Prof Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw, the President of the University called on the graduands not to cut corners in life.

Twelve graduating students, including seven females received awards for their excellent performance.
