The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department is urging all government workers to register for the national identification card popularly known as the “Ghana Card” or forfeit their salaries from December 1, 2021.
Acting Controller and Accountant-General, Mr Kwesi Kwanin Bosompem, in a statement dated October 12 said the Department is collaborating with the National Identification Authority (NIA) to have a harmonised database to facilitate biometric and unique identification of all workers on the government payroll.
Hitherto all existing and prospective government workers are to ensure that they are registered with the NIA and have obtained their identity numbers as the Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) now acts as the Tax Identification Numbers for every Ghanaian.
